Ibrahim Kallon
Ibrahim Kallon, originally from Freetown, is a textile weaver. At the age of 12, Ibrahim’s grandfather insisted that young Ibrahim joined him every day after school and assisted him in the practice of weaving. While he did not see the benefits of learning this ancient skill at that age, he could not be more grateful today for his grandfather’s persistence. Unlike many of his peers, he has the means to earn an income.
You can find Ibrahim weaving at two different spots. During the rainy season he is set up in a classroom, away from the rain, and during the dry season you can find him under the banana trees in the shade, enjoying the peace and quietness of the green environment he finds himself in.
