Aurora Foundation Annual Family Beach Day – A Day of Fun and Connection

22.10.24

On October 19th, the Aurora Foundation’s Annual Family Beach Day took place at the stunning Yankair Resort in Sierra Leone. This much-anticipated event brought together the entire Aurora team and their families for a day of fun, laughter, and strengthening bonds.

The day started with the team members being divided into four groups, each consisting of eight participants. The teams were randomly assigned, and after a quick brainstorming session, they proudly named themselves: the Lions, the Lionesses, the Dragons, and the Eagles. With everything in place, the games were ready to begin!

The day’s activities were designed to promote teamwork and offer a blend of skill, strategy, and good-natured competition. The first game of the day was Jenga, where each team had to carefully remove blocks from the tower without letting it collapse—a true test of steady hands and nerves of steel.

Next up was the Oreo Challenge, where participants had to move an Oreo cookie from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands. Laughter echoed across the beach as everyone tried, often unsuccessfully, to get the cookie into their mouths.

The third game, the Sack Race: Blindfold Challenge, was a thrilling race where participants had to hop in sacks, blindfolded, guided only by their teammates’ instructions. The challenge was both hilarious and intense, and the team dynamics truly came to the forefront as players worked together to navigate the course.

Following that, participants took on the Limbo, where they had to bend and stretch as low as possible to pass under a bar without touching it. The game brought plenty of fun and lighthearted competition, with everyone trying their best to stay limber and agile.

The day wrapped up with a game of Balloon race and a final game of Kubb, a game of strategy and precision where teams took turns throwing wooden sticks to knock down blocks arranged in the opposing team’s half. It was a great way to end the day on a high note, with a mix of competition and friendly rivalry.

At the end of the day, the Dragons team emerged victorious, but the real success was the connections made and the memories created. The Beach Day wasn’t just about the games—it was an opportunity for the team to come together in a relaxed, enjoyable setting, deepening relationships and creating lasting bonds.

The day was a reminder of the importance of fun, collaboration, and team spirit in both professional and personal life. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future and continuing to build a stronger, more connected team.
