The Search and Rescue team Arsæll – a department within the International Rescue Team Slysavarnafélagið Landsbjörg – assists during storms, earthquakes and floods all over the country and occasionally abroad. As the first international rescuers to arrive on site within 24 hours of the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, the team acted heroically under incredibly difficult and dangerous circumstances. When they departed from Haiti they had to leave some of their equipment behind.
Aurora Foundation’s grant was used to replace and update some of the team’s equipment.
