An outdoor concert, entitled Nature was held by the old laundry springs in Laugardalur on June 28th, 2008. Icelandic artists Björk, SigurRós, Ólöf Arnalds and Ghostdigital all performed. Laundry Springs is an excellent location for such a concert, being central and surrounded by trees that provide shelter from the wind. There are few places offering such conditions in the Reykjavik area.
Guests made a special evening out of it, showing up in warm clothes with their children, blankets and picnic baskets to enjoy the beautiful music far into the night. It was estimated that during peak hour there were over 30, 000 people sitting on the lawn by the laundry springs. The concert was broadcast on the Internet with an estimated 2.5 million viewers.
There was no entrance fee and Aurora Foundation was among those sponsors who made the concert possible.
