There is never a dull moment at the Lettie Stuart Pottery!

25.01.21

Last week was a big one as it was the last week of the 18th month Ceramic School program. The students have already sat their final exam and used the last week to prepare the final pieces they have made for showcasing during the graduation ceremony. That will be held in February. It is a big step for the Pottery Center to see the first cohort of students finishing the course, and it will be exciting to see how they continue to develop in the future. We at Aurora are proud to have been able to make this happen, and despite some setback due to the COVID Pandemic still managed to resume the school and give the students an excellent education.

But last week, we not only saw the students finish their course but Mr. Peter Korompai, the amazing potter from Hungary who has already supported the Center enormously, arrived on his third trip to Sierra Leone. He will now stay and work with the Potters in LSP over the next 3 months, to do research on clay and glazing material and assist in making the Center more productive and sustainable in the long run.

And with the Pandemic on the increase here in Sierra Leone, we have moved our management meetings of the LSP outdoors, keeping our social distancing!
