Imran Kamara’s story

25.04.22

Imran Kamara took part in an Aurora Foundation ICT course held in partnership with what was then IDT labs a few years ago. He claims to have learned business skills from that training and gained tools to use. At the end of the course, he was given a laptop and stated that it provided him with opportunities and access, and he started using the laptop to do more research and develop his business idea.

Last year, Imran joined Aurora again and is currently part of the pre-acceleration programme where he says he has been learning a lot of new things, gained insights for building structures for the business, but Imran’s business evolves around providing financial management for start-ups and small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in Sierra Leone. Imran has been operating as a freelancer since he finished the ICT training with Aurora until he applied for the pre-acceleration program and is now growing and developing the business and planning on extending his client base. Looking back, Imran says that receiving the laptop turned out to be a great resource for him and the backbone to enabling him to establish the company. He is confident with his trajectory and ambitious to continue supporting the economy and small businesses in Sierra Leone. We are very excited to follow Imran on his journey and take pride in working with such inspiring individuals who strive and work towards socially inclusive economic growth. We wish him all the best for a successful continuation!
