Initiatives during COVID-19

27.05.20

The current COVID-19 pandemic has caused social and economic disruption around our globe. As well as other countries, Sierra Leone has also taken measurements to minimize spreading of the disease. Besides the preventive measures, such as washing hands regularly, maintaining social distancing and covering one’s mouth when coughing, face masks have been made compulsory when entering the streets.

To support various initiatives to prevent further spreading of the disease, Aurora Foundation has donated 2500 face masks, 100 bottles of sanitizer and 100 bottles of hand soap to Grassroot Gender Empowerment Movement (GGEM), a micro credit institution which we have been supporting for over 6 years now. GGEM distributed the masks, sanitiser and soap accordingly to their clients.

The masks have been produced by Martha (find her on Instagram @tiansclosetfreetown), who was part of our fashion course in January 2020 (read the full story here) and is a young entrepreneur in fashion.
